Appalachian Conservation Corps and Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park are hiring a Chesapeake Gateways Ambassador intern to help share the incredible stories of the park through an equity lens. This position is open to young adults aged 18-30, or 35 if veteran, and is ideal for recent graduates of communications, history, education, etc.

We are looking for candidates local to the area.

The intern will develop and present inclusive interpretation materials, write digital media resources and host community programs. This 50-week position will begin September 18th, 2023, and is based out of Church Creek, MD. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (CHOH) is happy to announce that we are currently seeking up to (3) GS-07 Biological Science Technician positions! The positions will open tomorrow 9/27 and will close after we receive 60 applications or within 2 weeks. These positions are funded through IRA as well as Natural Resources Fund Source project funds for our rare, threatened, and endangered plant species propagation project. The positions will be focusing on forest restoration in high priority areas throughout the park and work will include rare species monitoring, propagation, and planting, invasive plant species control, and native plant restoration.

 To qualify for the Biological Science Technician position at the GS-07 grade, you must meet the following minimum qualifications by the closing date of this announcement.

·     EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Works with threatened and endangered plant species of the eastern United States; surveying/monitoring, identification, and active means of managing threatened and endangered species and their habitats. Uses botanical keys to identify rare, threatened, and endangered plant species of the eastern United States. Actively manages threatened and endangered plant species and their habitats. Monitoring protocols to survey and monitor rare, threatened, and endangered plant species. Collects seed for propagation of threatened and endangered plant species and restores natural populations. You must include hours per week worked. -OR-

·     EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education. You must include transcripts. -OR-

·     Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
